Getting engaged this winter or Christmas? Or feeling that your partner will pop up the question this winter? Go for a beautiful engagement shoot that will give you a lot of inspiring pictures of the two of you and will remind you of this amazing and very important day in your life. The thing is that winter engagement shoots outdoors can be a bit tricky because of the weather. I’ve prepared some tips to make your shoot perfect and inspire you.
Locations
Whether you have snow outside or not, we strongly recommend you to go outdoors to capture that charming winter look. If it’s snowing outdoors, any space would do: a forest, a lake, a mountain, your hometown or even your backyard. Enjoy the snow and a magical ambience it creates, if it’s possible, make a fire to sit next to it and warm up. Even if there’s no snow, you can go to a Christmas tree farm, and you’ll enjoy the atmosphere. If you love snowboarding, you can go for training together and combine it with a shoot.
Outfits
Choose looks according to your style and don’t forget that it may be chilly outside, you’ll need to take something warm with you and put it on at least in between shooting. You can wear casual clothes if you are going to forests or mountains: prefer jeans, sweaters and comfy boots and you’ll feel comfy, and that will be seen in your photos. A shiny sequin sweater is a great idea to feel cozy and look very girlish. If you want a girlish look, rock a bold red dress to stand out in pale winter shades but take a faux fur vest or scarf and a coat to put on when it’s cold. Want a Christmas feel? Try a plaid skirt or some accessory in plaid to feel winter holidays. If you prefer formal looks, go for a tuxedo and a night gown of your choice.
Winter Touches
Add cozy and sweet winter touches to your engagement shoot and you’ll love it even more! Go choose a Christmas tree and incorporate it into the shoot, show off your engagement ring on a fir branch, have some hot chocolate with marshmallows and cover up with vintage Christmas lights. Enjoy!
