Polly and Reuben’s summer French Alps wedding was beset with darkening skies, heavy rain and a dramatic thunderstorm but you’ll never know it. It was a simple and intimate destination wedding and a time for the guests to enjoy the Alps, its activities, nature and cuisine.
Polly was wearing a tea length wedding dress of lace with an illusion neckline and floral embroidery on the neckline plus T-strap wedding shoes for a retro feel in her look. She was rocking a messy side updo and a floral headpiece. The groom was wearing navy pants, a powder blue vest, a brown tie and shoes. The bridesmaids were wearing pastel tulle skirts and neutral tops of their choice.
The meal, catered by the venue, was delicious, using local products from the mountains and vegetables from the farmhouse garden. The wedding cake was a naked one topped with fresh flowers. There were long tables inside the intimate dining room, which were lit by candle light. The decor was kept really simple because when you get married in such a beautiful old place surrounded by the mountains, you wont need extra decor.
The bride designed the wedding invitations, added papyons (bow ties) to the bridemaids’ socks, made the map of the seating plan, personal wooden name holders picked from the forest (pine cones and branches), confetti cones, old family photo album, and a small wooden box with ‘Reuben & Polly’s adventures fund’ written on it.
