Laid-Back Destination Wedding With A Homey Feeling

Hazel and John decided to get married after 8 years of being together and they wanted a far location for a special feeling.

Originally from Kerry, and having looked at virtually every wedding venue in the county, Hazel and John had almost given up on finding the perfect marquee wedding venue. That was until a friend suggested the wonderful Hotel Doolin, in the equally wonderful coastal village of Doolin, Co. Clare. Taking a risk Hazel and John booked Hotel Doolin and invited friends and family to travel to celebrate with them.

The ceremony itself was kept intimate and informal with friends reading carefully selected poems and readings, and even an impromptu sing-along to ‘All You Need Is Love’ by The Beetles as Hazel and John walked down the aisle as husband and wife.

Hazel and John’s Doolin reception was a family affair with Hazel’s uncle providing the transport. The look was rustic and romantic with lots of DIY and natural elements. The feel was very much relaxed with lots of little touches to make sure our guests had a great time, from the ice-cream cart, sweet table, and disposable cameras for the kids to the DIY photo booth and stilt-walker complete with balloon animals.

Although asking people to travel to Doolin was originally a concern Hazel and John testify that in the end it worked out even better than they could have imagined. The priorities were that the guests thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed themselves and that the couple stayed true with the wedding they had. The guys managed to have a homey wedding in a far from home location, that’s amazing!
