When the couple describe the vision for their real wedding as “Marie Antoinette meets viking, meets gothic enchanted forest, meets Game of Thrones, meets Lord of the Rings marries rock ’n’ roll,” you know it’s not going to be some kind of run of the mill bash! Ready to see this beauty?
Canada-based couple Sylviane and Derek came back to Ireland for their Blackwater Castle wedding. Blending Irish and Canadian traditions, the couple tailored their own fun and personalized celebration. The authentic Irish sing-song, a Canadian-themed bonfire and fire-roasted potato bake and the amazing time they all had. The couple had an atmospheric outdoor ceremony in the stunning castle gardens.
The bridesmaids dressed in mix and match black dress tying in beautifully with Sylviane’s show-stopping gothic-inspired wedding dress. The groom was wearing a black suit, a grey waistcoat, a black tie and a trendy man bun.
Sylviane jokes that she enjoyed the creative process behind decorating and designing the wedding so much, she might even consider a career change. The couple wanted to take their guests back in time with decor that paid homage to the venue. The couple wanted authentic and delicious food and great tunes. The centerpiece of the reception was the stunning medieval-style feast, a custom charcuterie table made of live moss and flowers and decorated with antlers, candelabras, candles, vines and hanging wisteria along with a deer head mounted on the wall!
