Simon and Jodie’s midsummer wedding is sure to inspire those of you who feel like an off-beat geeky wedding on the beach.
The wedding took place on a beach in Cornwall, the day was about all the things that the couple loves: Marvel, surfing, travel, beach, colors but still it was very budget-friendly: just £6,000. What’s the secret of such a modest price? A lot of DIYs!
The biggest project was making 1,000 origami cranes, the couple also painted cardboard boxes like VW vans as wearable props to arrive in to save money on a wedding car. Flowers were bought directly and put together by Jodie’s maid of honor and put in vases, urns and wellies from car boot sales. The stationery was all DIY with photos used as invitations, and place names were made from painted rocks collected from their favorite beaches. The wedding cakes were also a team effort of the mother and sister of the groom, and there was a whole arrangement of adorable cakes to enjoy, all of them with fun and geeky toppers. They also provided a cheese wheel cake for those who don’t like sweets.
The bride was wearing a lace A-line wedding gown with a flattering neckline, a DIY fresh flower headpiece with a veil and lace barefoot sandals. The groom was rocking a grey suit with a vest, a bow tie and colorful socks. The bridesmaids were wearing matching dresses in aqua and bold blue color.
