Nicole and Oodie’s New Orleans elopement has got us all in our feels. Oodie and Nicole’s wedding day was not only full of lots of love and style, but creative, sentimental ideas.
The wedding was colorful and mid-century, the couple decided to elope. They asked their closest people to mail them letters that they could open in bed the morning of our wedding. It was the perfect way to start the day, reading love letters to them from the people who care about them most.
Oodie spent a lot of weekends vintage and thrift shopping so she used the 8 months leading up to the wedding sourcing each item for her outfit. A few days before the wedding she put it all on and felt like something was missing – that was a gorgeous vintage tie that finished off the look. Nicole wanted to look like a sparkly rock star and she managed to do that! A crown, silver boots, and a sparkly dress were all she could imagine for herself. She did her makeup and hair herself to avoid wasting money and accept herself as she is.
The girls love New Orleans for its bright colors and diversity and chose it for their wedding. They envisioned a colorful, mid-century backyard elopement with fun shapes and a little bit of a tropical vibe. They pulled inspiration from ’70s interiors and their own apartment as well as the vibrant spirit of New Orleans. They had planned on having their “reception” dinner in the backyard at The Louie under the twinkly lights, but a cold front came in and they decided to move everything inside.
