The couple at the center of today’s real wedding are clearly incredibly creative, DIYing the stationery, décor, wine and even some of the flowers at their beautiful wedding, which took place at the bride’s family home.
Anna had long dreamed of getting married in the back garden of her parents’ cottage by the sea, so that was the couple’s first choice when they got engaged. She describes the wedding as eclectic, fun, relaxed. The couple wanted the main wedding day to have the vibe of a day-two party, where everything is more casual and everyone is just hanging out having a good time. As Luke is a musician, and they both come from musical families, this part of the day included lots of special performances.
The couple’s floral arrangements were a mix of professional and DIY efforts. A local florist, Annette, made the bouquets and buttonholes from the gorgeous seasonal flowers in her garden. For the flowers on the tables, the bridesmaids scoured the hedgerows the day before the wedding. This ambitious couple did all of the planning, coordinating and styling themselves. With some help from the bridesmaids, the couple made 100 bottles of their own home-brewed wine, called Wine Not, to serve with dinner. Anna also handmade all of the on-the-day stationery, including the ceremony programmes, table plan, and menus! The mother of the groom made a whopping 20 chocolate cakes for dessert! And the delicious chocolate wedding cakes were homemade by a talented aunty of the groom.
The bride was wearing a gorgeous gold sequin wedding dress with short sleeves, an open back and a high neckline. The bridesmaids were rocking black jumpsuits, and the groom and groomsmen were wearing black tuxes.
