Iceland has always been and will always be one of the most popular destinations for weddings and elopements because of its out-of-this-world beauty and breathtaking sceneries. Today’s stunning elopement—that started with the couple taking a road trip through Iceland—culminated in one dreamy and intimate day in the countryside. The two wanted to ditch the stress of planning a big wedding, so they invited all of their closest family members to the rainy valley.

The couple spent the week leading up to the wedding scuba diving between tectonic plates, hitting hot pots, having bonfires on the beach, and riding horses. They married in the Budir church on a foggy, rainy day with a traditional Icelandic ceremony. The couple took a minimal approach to the actual wedding details like table settings, flowers, clothing, even the colors surrounding the wedding. Their wedding dinner was held in the Budir Hotel, just a short walk from the church. They gifted each of their guests custom paintings with an Icelandic theme, gave toasts, cut their Icelandic wedding almond cookie cake, and danced throughout the never-ending evening. The cake was a traditional Icelandic wedding cake called a ‘kransakaka’, a cake of almond cookies.

The bride was wearing a minimalist Sarah Seven wedding gown of plain fabric and with a cutout back for a spectacular look. Her white leather shoes were backless and also looked very non-typical. She was rocking a low bun with a long veil and statement earrings. The groom was wearing a blue suit and a black tie. The bridal bouquet was made of greenery and with some white blooms. Take a look at the pics and get inspired!
