Weddings are a special event for more than just the bride and groom, as they are meant to bring two families together. When you’re planning your big day, there are so many things to consider, and we know that you want to keep your guests happy and entertained the whole day through. That even includes the little ones in attendance, but sometimes including them and ensuring they have fun can be a challenge. Keep reading to learn all the fun and sweet ways you can incorporate children into your wedding day festivities!
Make them a part of the ceremony
This is probably the most obvious of ways to include kids in your wedding, but it’s nonetheless a fun way to do it! Making nieces, nephews, young cousins, or any other kids that are a part of your life a ring bearer, flower girl, usher, or junior bridesmaid is a great way to make them feel like they’re in on the action. Plus, there are so many fun props and accessories that they can use for a pop of pizzazz, too, like a sweet “here comes your bride” sign or letting them walk your pooch down the aisle. It’s sure to be a memory they’ll never forget!
Create a kid friendly table
Dinner doesn’t have to be a snooze for the tots at your reception! Create a kid-friendly table complete with coloring books and crayons, crazy straws, and anything else you think they may love. This will be fun for them and a life-saver for their parents, too.
Give ‘em something sweet
Every kid loves the chance to load up on sweets, right?! Let them have their cake and eat it too by setting up a candy bar filled with all of their favorites. Complete it by putting out bags so that they can fill it and take it home as a souvenir – assuming it isn’t all eaten by the time they leave!
Set up a craft table
One way to keep kids busy the entirety of the reception is to set up a table with fun and simple crafts for them to work on. Complete with smocks to protect their fancy clothes, adorn the table with markers, crayons, glitter, and glue sticks and let them show their creative flair. They’ll have a blast and will leave with some little masterpieces for their parents’ fridges!
Let them enjoy the outdoors
If your wedding takes advantage of the outdoors, why not set up some kid-friendly games in the space? Cornhole, giant Jenga, and ring toss are games that the entire crew can enjoy – kids and all!
Invite them to stand during your vows
If the bride and groom already have children, a great way to include them in the actual ceremony is to have them stand next to their parents during the reciting of the vows. You can even have them recite their own vows, promising to love their parents. This is an ultra sweet and inclusive way to make your children feel like a big part of your special day.
As you can see, making your littlest guests feel included and providing them with a fun day is not as hard as you might think! We love all of these ideas, and there are many more out there that will make your wedding more well-rounded in order to cater to every guest. Using even just some of these ideas will ensure your wedding is one they’ll never forget!
